Madewell Thinks That You Should Wear a Sheer $68 Top to Go Pick Apples

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Madewell has just launched a new "What to Wear" section on their website. The section features looks that can work for all kinds of autumn-themed and not-so-autumn themed occasions, from shopping with girlfriends to brunch to Thanksgiving dinner. However, their recommended outfit for apple picking feels a little bit off: they suggest a $68 sheer striped tunic. That seems like it would be too cold for picking apples outside, and it would be a bitch to hand-wash that thing if there was any accidental apple juice damage.
