Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Anna Dello Russo apparently has 10 rules pertaining to holiday Christmas parties, and she recently posted them on her blog. Number 2 is pretty interesting. It reads: "Forget any COATS (also if outside it's only 5 degrees).? You should make a big impact just with your dress."

Yes, absolutely, we 100% concur: A coat during Christmas would just be foolish. She also recommends focusing on shoes ("Generally at Christmas party you spend? a lot of time seated on the sofa") and warns not to "throw yourself" on the buffet. But all that's nothing compared to Rule Number 6.

And now, the best rule ever, for everything, in life: "Wearing lots of JEWELLERY.? The sound of JEWELLERY banish? bad thoughts and bad ghosts."
