The 5 Best Fashion Dance Moments of 2011

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Fashion is a serious business, populated by seriously beautiful people wearing seriously expensive things. But sometimes even the most severe fashion stars have to let it all out. Enter 2011, the year of the fashion dance. We've rounded up the most free-wheeling, get-down-stay-down, shake-your money-maker fashion dance videos of the year, and if they don't make you want to move, nothing will.

5. Prada Spring 2011
Nothing says "let your hair down" like a giant banana print, and Prada rightly decided to have a little fun with their spring 11 video. Watch models Arizona Muse, Kinga Rajzak, Zuzanna Bijoch, Mariacarla Boscono, and Tati Cotliar demonstrate what happens when you mix fruit prints, bold stripes, and wacky music.

4. Garance Dore for Petit Bateau
Everyone's favorite girl crush Garance Dore proved she's just as much fun to drink with as she is to follow on her blog. Here she is, dancing a Madison with two handsome men in a Parisian cafe. Also, we want to go to Paris.

3. Tyra Banks with Keenan Cahill
If you are a former supermodel, chances are slim that you'll end up in the suburban bedroom of a bespectacled 15-year-old boy. Unless of course you are Tyra Banks, in which case anything goes! Here Tyra gets down with YouTube sensation Keenan Cahill to the tune of, what else, "She Walks Like Tyra."

2. Anna dello Russo for Versace x H&M
Well this was something. Fashion exhibitionist Anna dello Russo can't move like Garance, but that didn't stop her from trying. Here, in anticipation of H&M’s Versace collab, she shakes it while wearing a studded dress from the collection. Our favorite moment occurs at 0:07 when AdR shoos off a photographer while staying on beat.

1. Lanvin Fall/Winter 2011
In Spetember 2011, 'The Lanvin' became the new 'Dougie.' Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me" never sounded so good as when models Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman recreated the Dance Dance Revolution video game choreography for the house's fall/winter video and print campaigns. Creative director Alber Elbaz even makes a cameo, proving anyone can do it—and everyone did. Below, we send you off into 2012 with a video of fashion week's most stylish attendees remixing the Lanvin, the fashion dance of the year.
