Karmaloop launched in 2000 as an e-commerce site for fun and less-easy-to-find streetwear, and followed up shortly thereafter with a basement boutique on Boston's fabled Newbury Street. It wasn't exactly the nicest space—but it was co-ed and chock full. Now, Karmaloop—aside from having offices in three cities, two separate e-tailers featuring a massive range of stock, a slew of collaborations and several blogs—has opened a posh ground floor shop across the street in a delicious, old brownstone.
The shop consists of two plush, wood-lined rooms full of soft lighting and antique furniture, connected by a back-lit galley space designed expressly to showcase the stores incredible range of street and skate sneakers. As of now they only stock menswear and a ton of unisex accessories with women's clothing to follow for spring. Click their homepage for the litany of brands (for both sexes), some highlights: Cheap Monday, Pro-Keds, Nixon, RVCA, WeSC, Spiewak, Obey, Naked & Famous ?
