The Perry Ellis fall menswear show may have just bowed at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this morning, but 10 of creative director John Crocco's favorite looks are already on sale online at the company's Facebook fanpage. For four days, 10 fall looks will be available in limited quantities to customers—a full six months before the items are shipped to stores.
What will customers find? An all-American user-friendly military-inspired aesthetic in a subdued fall palette of loden greens, warm browns, and blues. All the heritage standbys are there—the single-breasted melton jackets, pinstripe trousers, plaid, checks, and quilted bombers. Standout knits—thick cashmeres, pastels, contrast details, and colorblocking—add a pop of color and leather elbow patches keep the look cozy. The fall collection is perfectly in line with the direction in which American men's sportswear is heading—with its growing emphasis on authenticity and classicism—but eschews the overly-trendy and extremist detailing and silhouettes (things that heritage-watchers obsess over) that may be too difficult for the all-American consumer's palate.
