When we think of Tadashi Shoji, we think of beautiful jewel-toned eveningwear, at relatively affordable prices, available in sizes for real women. So how did this Tadashi Fashion Week show differ from all other Tadashi shows? The colors were bolder—we particularly loved the bright purples and reds. There were also a couple of pieces which were slightly less dressy than the designer's norm, which could be worn for day. And we were mesmerized by a few of the pieces' hand cut organza petal details, which made for textures slightly reminiscent of the floats in the Rose Bowl Parade. In a good way.
But our favorite addition to this season's Tadashi show was that figure skater Johnny Weir was in attendance. Attired in Vivienne Westwood and an old fur coat, his skin was so beautiful, it gave the dresses competition. The surprisingly friendly Weir, shared with us a schedule which must make him the busiest man at Fashion Week. He's front row-ing many shows, walking the runways for Richie Rich and Asher Levine, plus, he has designed and will be showing a four piece capsule collection for creative furrier, Adrienne Landau. We're guessing the only events you won't be seeing Johnny at, are any ones sponsored by PETA.
