Antonio Azzuolo's Fall/Winter '11 show was presented in part by Saga Furs—it said as much right on the invitation. So, we expected a fur-lined bomber, a fur-trimmed trench. We were not expecting gigantic white fur mittens, massive white fur lapels, and a huge white fur scarf that we could really just go ahead and call a stole. It was pretty crassly luxurious—and we wouldn't have been terribly surprised if someone whipped out a bucket of red paint and went to town.
No, the mittens were not for us. But, we did love the sharply tailored collection of black and white suit separates set off by ice blue and red (red certainly seems to be everywhere); the cropped, trim pants; the banded sweaters, the double-breasted blazers in wacky novelty jacquards—so let's just keep the red paint off of that stuff.
