Is Nautica due for a resurgence? We stopped into the brand's appropriately nautical Fall/Winter '11 menswear presentation—at Lincoln Center's Library for the Performing Arts—on Friday and liked what we saw. Modern and clean and all-American prep with a whole slew of sailor-ready winter white and Coast Guard orange accenting a series of better-than-business-casual separates (also: Cargo pants).
We might have been at least partially won over by the presentation itself—warm and toasty compared to the frozen tundra-like conditions outside—the sets included an actual boardwalk and boardwalk-like model platforms, dune-printed banners and lighting that succeeded in creating a calming, undulating wave effect. The show notes said Lake Michigan was the inspiration. We, however, were getting more of a Cape Cod vibe—especially upon receiving an adorable blue madras pocket square favor. Who's ready for summer?
