Right before the Jeremy Scott show started, a friend sitting nearby informed us that Candyflip, Scott's theme for his fall collection, means taking LSD and Ecstasy together—a la 90s-rave culture. That's when our expectations got really high. And Scott did not disappoint.
In what can only be described as a 90s fashion-fashion clubkid revival, Jeremy Scott presented a rave-tastic collection that would have made Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone proud. Complete with Scott's signature modified logos—this season, spoofing the "Enjoy Coca Cola" catchphrase as "Enjoy God"—there were plenty of colorblocked primary colors, metal mesh, fuzzy wuzzy pink sweaters, fishnet, superhero-motif tops and dresses, and fringed cowhide shorts. Oh, and a thumpaty-thump rave soundtrack.
In the audience: one Kanye West and one Vanessa Hudgens (???), along with hordes of girls in pom-pom hats, Korean pop stars the Wonder Girls, men in animal-ear hoodies, asymmetrical haircuts in every bleached and non-natural color of the rainbow, and plenty of people trying to to look less pretty in ironic nerd glasses.
