Here's the thing about Michael Kors: We love him, we love almost everything he does, we think he's one of the best all-American luxury sportswear designers working today. He has perfect taste, his clothes are elegant, wearable, and understandable. His shows feature the best model casting and the production is always seamless. Everything about Michael Kors is perfectly on-brand—and commercially successful. All in all, we think he's one of the least hate-able designers around.
That said, Kors' fall collection—and his 30th anniversary runway show—was a perfect study in monochrome. In grey, camel, cream, dusty rose, or black-and-white—from suiting, outerwear, leathers, furs, trousers, evening gowns, and knits, Kors epitomizes the ultimate understated fall wardrobe for the rich-but-not-flashy.
Michael Kors' front row was, as usual, packed with celebrities. Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas wore head-to-toe Collection, as did Emma Roberts, Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Rene Russo, Bette Midler, and Patti Hansen.
