For any woman who's ever considered coordinating her pet to her outfit to her dessert—thanks to Isaac Mizrahi's fall 2011 collection, called "Cake," it'll be a no-brainer! Mizrahi—whose show is always one of the highlights of New York fashion week because he never ever forgets that fashion shows should be (1) fun and (2) shows—collaborated with the Cake Boss and with, uh, a bunch of poodles, to present a collection of desserts, glamorous looks, and custom-dyed dogs.
As socialites and editors noshed on slices of cake—yes, actual food with calories at fashion week, omg people—men carried silver trays of three-tiered cakes down the runway. The patterns and colors of the cakes corresponded to dresses in the collection, and models walked out with dogs that matched.
Here are our stream-of-consciousness notes from the show: "Pruned hedges; purple and green; POODLES; CAKES!! Orange dog, carried!! Hot pink!! Fuzzy Clutches; Poodle pins; Fluffy; PURPLE DOG!! Giant pink poodle."
Oh, and by the way, we're thinking that between this and some of the other major shows we've seen this season, fall is going to be all about monochrome.
PS Did we mention that all the models wore these huge poodle-esque pom-pom hair things on their heads? Check out the finale video here:
