If there's one thing we love most about 3.1 Phillip Lim—and let's be honest, we love a lot about Phillip Lim—it's the use of color. When we sat down at the Fall/Winter show yesterday at St. John's Center in New York, we couldn't help but notice that majority of the audience was dressed in black. By comparison, the collection at the show was all about combining the colors such as black, white, and burgundy with an electrifying blue and a beautiful grassy green. Lim used the vivid colors to accentuate glossy, brandy-colored lambskin, soft silks, and cozy wool pieces, setting the mood for Fall 2011.

The collection, titled "A Loitering Presence," made us think we were going to see mysterious looking models parading through the maze-like runway, but instead we saw rich color combinations, crimped hair and light blue makeup that reminded us of the 80s. Models donned sapphire, shamrock green, and a shiny brandy to tell a color story so inspiring, we wanted to take the pieces right off the runway to put on our backs. We decided against that, but some people in the audience really wanted to get the best look at the collection. "Bodyguard out of the way" was the first phrase that escaped an attendee's mouth to kick off the start of the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. Okay, it was a photographer who said it, but trust us, if we were him, we'd want the bodyguards out of our view also. Our top picks: a pair of brandy front fold-over trousers, shamrock bi-color jacquard trousers, a brandy raglan nappa sleeve top, and lapis 'Regine' sandals. —Jena Glick
