Gisele Hates Sunscreen

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has riled the beauty industry by calling sunscreen "poison." Yup, poison. The Daily Mail reports: "'I cannot put this poison on my skin,' the 30-year-old said. 'I do not use anything synthetic.'" Other things Bundchen has said that make people angry: Remember that whole episode about not using drugs during childbirth? And that thing about making breastfeeding a worldwide mandate? For someone who was discovered by her first model agent while eating a Big Mac at McDonald's, Bundchen sure has a lot of preachy stuff to say about what other people ought to use and consume.
