Designer Prabal Gurung is this year's winner of the USA Network's Character Approved Fashion Award, which honors individuals who are "changing the face of American culture by influencing our opinions, style, and views of the world through innovations."
Gurung recorded this short video with USA, above. In it, he talks about how he was bullied as a child, and how one teacher changed his life and bolstered his self-esteem. Gurung also talks about Nepal, how it's a developing country, and how he's probably the first person to come out of Nepal to be able to have a fashion label in New York and show during fashion week.
The USA Network's Character Approved Awards will air March 8th at 11 p.m. ET.
