Sean Avery Launches First of Avery's Rules at Gilt Man Tomorrow

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Guess which NHL hockey player is back in fashion? Sean Avery, New York Ranger and one of the most famous Vogue interns of all time, has partnered with Gilt Man to launch a three-part weekly series where he'll curate sales on the designer flash sale site. The series has got a clever name too: Avery's Rules—a sports reference (we had to look it up) to The Sean Avery Rule enacted by the NHL over what the league considered unsportsmanlike behavior (a.k.a. distracting the opposing team's goalie—a move, by the way, which is, hello, brilliant).

Avery's Rule will launch at noon tomorrow, with the first week's selection focusing on work wardrobes. Next week, look for "Avery's Rules: Going Out" and on the 25th, Avery will dish on weekend wear. In the meantime, check out Avery's just-launched personal site—where the NHL player posts about decidedly non-sporting subjects, including music, art, and fashion.
