Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On April 27th, the American Apparel & Footwear Association will honor Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala's clothing and accessories line William Rast as its "Brand of the Year" at the organization's 33rd annual American Image Awards.

"We are truly honored to be recognized by our peers in the fashion community," CEO Colin Dyne said in a statement. "The past six years of building William Rast into a full lifestyle brand has been an incredible journey for us. We think a key factor to our success and recognition in the fashion community has been the focus on creating a comprehensive brand platform, instead of going down the road of a traditional celebrity branding. Authenticity and credibility have been key drivers for all of us involved."

If you could give an award to your "Brand of the Year," who would it be?
