Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail is, well, not slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Racked's new feature, Buyer's Remorse.
This week's subject is the Cambridge-educated co-founder of The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington. Yes, even Oxbridge graduates, who sell their companies for over three hundred million dollars, sometimes regret their fashion purchases.
And just what does Arianna Huffington regret buying?
Arianna Huffington: For me it has to do mostly with high heel shoes that I don't end up wearing. They look gorgeous—for three minutes. I brought a great pair of very high heel brown suede Manolo Blahnik boots and I wore them only once. They're so high-heeled, and so great looking, but In the end comfort won out. That's always my biggest temptation, the wrong shoes.
