Countless column inches have been devoted to chronicling Anna Wintour's vast collection of Manolo Blahnik shoes, her Chanel sunglasses, her Oscar de la Renta looks, her Burberry trenches. But very little seems to have been written about Wintour's choice of handbag. This is probably because the queen of all fashion is rarely spotted out and about with a big honking sack (this is but one characteristic that differentiates Wintour from mere mortals—the rest of us have a lot more stuff to schlep around).
Anyway, in this past weekend's issue of the Wall Street Journal magazine, Wintour was photographed in her suite at the Ritz in Paris by Mario Testino (love him) and there's a handbag sitting there in the room. Of course, we were curious—what is Wintour's chosen bag brand? In what sort of portable luxury vessel does this fashion icon stash her lipstick and credit cards?
Answer: Anna Wintour carries Reed Krakoff. Specifically, she carries the glazed ostrich version of the Reed Krakoff "Field I" handbag, which costs $3,990, features black antiqued nickel hardware, an inside front-split pocket, and is lined in twill. Well. Now we know.
