Would You Get a Rhino Tattoo for a 20% Discount-For-Life at Ecko?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What would you do to get a lifetime discount at your favorite store? Would you, say, get an animal tattoo? That's what Ecko is hoping—the company's new Branded for Life program promises a 20% discount-for-life to any customer who gets either the brand's Rhino logo or the Marc Ecko Cut & Sew shears tatted on their bodies.

Um. 20%? Seriously?

Eh. Different strokes for different folks, we guess. Us, maybe we'd get a tattoo for a lifelong 50%-off discount on, like, Ann Demeulemeester or something.
