Behind the Scenes on Set With the Old Spice Guy: "Hello Ladies!"

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We try to bring you lots of cool behind-the-scenes videos and photos from fashion shoots and ad campaigns, but this behind-the-scenes footage, above, of the now-iconic Old Spice ads really take the cake. Who knew that shooting the seemingly totally-silly spots required so much choreography? There are suspension cords, flying props, exploding thingies, and many different backdrops.
