FoxNews Says: No Pink for Boys

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The conservatives and gender-boundary-fascists over at FoxNews are all up in arms over the most recent J. Crew catalog, which shows company president Jenna Lyons' son wearing pink toenail polish. “This is a dramatic example of the way that our culture is being encouraged to abandon all trappings of gender identity,” psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow wrote in his column on FoxNews.com. The story goes on to say that "Media Research Center’s Erin Brown agreed, calling the ad 'blatant propaganda celebrating transgendered children.'" It's just pink nail polish, people. If the kid wants to wear pink nail polish, let him wear pink nail polish. [FoxNews]
