Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Last night, we headed uptown to the Waldorf Astoria for the annual Women in Need dinner—this year chaired by Karin Sadove, Beth Datir, and Susan Rudin and honoring Karen Katz, CEO of Neiman Marcus, and Gina Sanders, CEO of Fairchild Fashion Group. Hosted by Meredith Vieira, the three-hour event raised an incredible $2.6 million for WIN, a charitable organization dedicated to helping homeless families, especially women and children, by providing housing, substance abuse treatment, child care, job training, and domestic violence services.

Every year, the WIN gala is chock full of fashion and retail heavy-hitters, and this year was no exception. Along with the above honorees, we spotted Diane Von Furstenberg, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Eve, Teen Vogue's Amy Astley, Patti LaBelle, Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa, David and Sybil Yurman, model Karen Elson, Nina Garcia, Kate Spade's Deborah Lloyd, Shipley & Halmos' Jeff Halmos, Neiman Marcus' Ken Downing, Elie Tahari, Robert Rodriguez, Bergdorf Goodman's Linda Fargo, and Monca Rich Kosann. Us, we were seated between the fabulous Ralph Lauren VP Michel Botbol and the brilliant Alejandro Ingelmo. (Here are some things we talked about over dinner: paisley wallpaper, what to eat for breakfast, chocolate labradors, and bridesmaid dresses.)
