The New Range Rover Should Really Be Called The Marchesa-Mobile

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

...Or the "Revis Rider," for that matter. Earlier this week, the Range Rover Evoque was officially unveiled, and for once it's not a car completely designed by engineers toiling away far from the city folk who'll actually be driving this baby. Marchesa's Georgina Chapman worked to shape it. As did NY Jets' Darrelle Revis, and CoolHunting.com's Josh Rubin, PSFK's Piers Fawkes and Bevy Smith.

Essentially they are brand ambassadors, along with many other influential names (in fashion: Henry Holland, Daisy Lowe, Francesca Versace, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, and the ladies behind Sass & Bide), but they've had to customize their Rovers plus submit to having their journeys around various cities tracked and analyzed. Chances are, if you spot a snazzy new Evoque this summer, Georgina could be at the wheel.

At the launch event Serena Williams arrived in a flash of purple and quickly became the focus of attention. We give her props for being like, the only woman in the room wearing flats (gold glittery ones!) and for pulling off yet another vibrant outfit. First prize for Miss Photogenic. We're going to bet that Serena will be rolling around in a new car herself very soon.

Now let's listen to Georgina Chapman talk?in her nice British accent?about driving around Manhattan, shall we?
