Yesterday we popped into Smythson, the English purveyor of fine leather goods and stationary, to view their offerings for Autumn/Winter 2011. We briefly chatted with Samantha Cameron, their Creative Consultant (formerly Creative Director) and wife of British Prime Minister, David Cameron. Before the UK's First Lady of Style, a title for which Cameron aptly deserves, jetted across the pond, she complimented us on the details of the folio we were carrying, but was mums on the Royal Wedding she attended. How diplomatic.
What's can you expect to see come August and September? Smythson typically names collections after a writer of note and this season they introduced the Emily, for Emily Bronte. A taxidermied peacock (we promise it's not from the Bronx Zoo) illustrated the fashion colors: Lapis and Peridot. One of our favorite bags is the Baby Agatha. It's a cross body that even fits a standard long wallet. For the guys, technology is a growing category and Smythson has got your BlackBerry, Kindle, and iPad covered, literally. -Benjamin Liong Setiawan
