Unveiled: The Iris Apfel for HSN Collection is Pretty Awesome

New, 21 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Fashion icon Iris Apfel is sort of having the best week ever—last week we mentioned that she was launching a jewelry collection with HSN and the other day, her apartment photo-spread in the new issue of Architectural Digest was revealed. Today, we're bringing you a photo gallery of Rara Avis, Apfel's HSN collection. Check it out, above.

Priced from $20 to $150, the Rara Avis collection will debut exclusively on HSN this September.

“I always say that you can change the entire look of an outfit by accessorizing," Apfel says in a statement. "Take a black dress for instance; toss on different jewelry and create 100 different outfits. Take that principle and combine it with the fact that I have accumulated a great number of fabulous pieces over my lifetime and they culminate into something major—my HSN line. I want to teach people to be less deliberate with their accessorizing choices and have fun putting surprising looks and styles together.”

Which are your favorite pieces? Here at Racked HQ, we're dying over the bejeweled toucan, the metal-slash-mixed-media bangle (no. 3 in the photoset), and the floral carved wooden bangles.

We also 100% cannot wait to see Apfel live on HSN.

UPDATE: We've posted an update about the controversy surrounding the toucan pin—specifically regarding jewelry designer Hanna Bernhard's allegations that Apfel knocked of her design. See here.
