Leave It to Nicola Formichetti to Bring Man-Skirts Back to Gilt

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you've been online for more than 15 minutes today, then you're likely already aware that Thierry Mugler designer Nicola Formichetti has crafted a Lady Gaga-themed sale on Gilt, including everything from Gaga's album to the white Mugler dress and hat worn by Gaga at the Fall/Winter 2011 runway. That last item will cost you a round total of $20,000, or with similar quirkiness, you can just spring for the $299 Raf Simons man-skirt.

We're reminded of the Great Gilt Man-Skirt Craze of 2009, which centered around this Thom Browne creation. It famously sold out, was famously spotted on the street, and rightfully became a legend in and of itself.

Who will snap up the last size 46 of this Raf skirt? Perhaps the more pressing question is actually why is the Gilt model playing with a Razr phone?
