In what industry folks are hailing as George Michael's "Freedom 90" revisited, Naomi Campbell and yet-to-be-named supermodel pals will be reuniting to film an upcoming Duran Duran video in the South of France. Duran Duran is hot on the heels of the release of their well-reviewed and Mark Ronson-produced album "All You Need is Now" (buy it, we love it and they finally sound like themselves again).
According to Grazia UK, lead singer Simon Le Bon's supermodel wife Yasmin Le Bon was the catalyst of the idea. She brought it up to Campbell when the whole group got together at Cannes last week. Rumor even has it that Kate Moss—who missed out on the "Freedom 90" fun (and also the following year's Thierry Mugler-directed "Too Funky")—might even be involved.
The boys back in the day (sorry, we couldn't resist) via idiotflashback
As Duran Duran pretty much pioneered the music video as we know it (and rarely ever see anymore), the possibilities for the video concept are just endless, really. As for our song of choice, "Girl Panic!" would be the obvious literal match, but our personal favorite is the über-dreamy "The Man Who Stole a Leopard". We hope that Simon, Nick, Roger and John (who, by the way is married to Juicy Couture founder Gela Nash-Taylor), don't elect to pull a George Michael "Freedom 90" and not appear in the video at all. That would be a tragic shame since these boys aged like fine wine.
