Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We spent last weekend in Savannah, Georgia, where Andre Leon Talley presented his good friend Manolo Blahnik with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) BFA fashion show. We're sifting through our catalog of images now and will be bringing you some of the best shots from the show tomorrow morning, but we wanted to show you this shot first.

At the reception before the show, SCAD lined an entire wall at the Gutstein Gallery on E. Broughton Street with Manolo Blahnik shoeboxes—a really breathtaking sight for any shoe fanatic—and placed one of Blahnik's iconic Mary Jane shoes in the center of it all.

Blahnik did say, in his talk with the New York Times' Eric Wilson, that he hated Mary Janes—"I'm so sick of Mary Janes," Blahnik says, "but they love it, they keep buying it." But we think he looks pretty awesome photographed standing next to it.
