This past Memorial weekend was a busy one for John Varvatos, who invited famed Saturday Night Live shutterbug, Mary Ellen Matthews, to his East Hampton boutique on, you guessed it, Saturday.
Matthews has the awesome job of photographing the hosts and performers of SNL. Her lens has captured some of the most coveted names on the big screen like Natalie Portman, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and James Franco. She's also shot chart toppers like Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West. Oh to be a fly on the wall of her studio. We're certain she has some stories to share, but probably can't due to confidentiality clauses.
Matthews set up a photo studio inside the store and took portraits of Varvatos customers who spent over $250. 10% of the sales for that day went to the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons. Even 30 Rock star, Alec Baldwin, a friend of Matthews, stopped by to lend his support. Not a bad way to kick off the summer.
