Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

British born designer Simon Spurr has a resume filled with stints at impressive companies such as Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. It came as no surprise that since branching out on his own in the Fall of 2006, Spurr's name has been nominated for the industry's top awards—GQ/CFDA Best New Menswear Designers in America in 2008, CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund in 2009, CFDA's Swarovski Award for Menswear in 2010, and his most recent nod for the CFDA's Menswear Designer of the Year Award.

In 2009, he married Justine Kahn, who is a physician currently in her first year of residency. Spurr shares with us some thoughts on his wedding:

Religiously speaking, Justine and I had a very eclectic wedding in a church, under a chuppah with a Sufi ceremony. As the ceremony finished and our friend marrying us announced, "you may kiss the bride," I hesitated and asked, "don't I have to stamp on a glass first?!"
