Former songstress turned fashion mogul—to the tune of $1 billion mogul—Jessica Simpson has signed a deal to appear as a mentor on Fashion Star, that new Elle MacPherson-hosted reality show set to debut on NBC next spring. E! reports: "The singer has made a killing, and now she's set to teach others her secret as she signs on to play a fashion mentor on a new NBC reality show where an unknown designer will get funding to start their own brand. So what will Simpson be doing? She act as a guide on the new reality series, Fashion Star. The series will follow fashion-savvy contestants as they compete in weekly challenges to win a multimillion dollar contract to launch their own brand."
