Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to Racked's first-ever maybe-annual Weddings Week where, in addition to all of our regularly scheduled programming, we'll be bringing you heaping heaps of nuptial style and shopping intelligence all week long. Tune in right here for fashion wedding, guest dressing, weird and wonderful ideas, and even tips on things to do once the honeymoon's over (like, oh, say, divorce).
Meanwhile, in China: There's a satellite suburb in the Songjiang district, near Shanghai, called Thames Town, which was built in 2006 in the style of a traditional English village. Yes, people actually live here, but Thames Town's real draw is as a backdrop to the wedding photos of Chinese newlywed couples, who flock en masse to the Victorian-ish medieval-ish village for massive staged photo opps.
