Finally, months after her endorsement was announced, WWD unveils Angelina Jolie's ad for Louis Vuitton. The images, shot in Cambodia by Annie Leibovitz, will run for approximately 18 months as part of Vuitton's "Core Values" campaign—an ongoing series of celebrity-studded ads that has previously featured the likes of Bono and Sean Connery. The folks at Vuitton HQ (and WWD) seem to be waxing especially poetic about Jolie's appearance.
“This campaign is about a very special person and a very special journey... People are not used to seeing Angelina in this situation,” Vuitton EVP Pietro Beccari told WWD. “I like the fact that it’s a real moment. This travel message we give through personal journeys is a fundamental one for the brand.”
Meanwhile, WWD's lede reads straight out of a pastoral romance:
She’s barefoot, wearing her own clothes, no makeup and toting her own elegantly weathered monogrammed Alto bag.
