We popped into the Nicole Miller showroom to take a look at the Resort 2012 collection. Just what one would want for vacation-ready clothing. There were colorful ombres that faded from orange to blue, tribal prints with beaded necklines, and slouchy tops that are perfect for the relaxed vibe of the season. Some pieces even had a metallic foil treatment that was derived from a pair of jeans from the Fall collection and was expanded upon to include dresses and skirts for Resort.
Miller shares with us her inspiration for the collection:
Resort is about light and shadows. Sunshine on the water and shade on the sand. I was thinking about refracted light—the way light rays change depending on the what they pass through—the way light changes through water, the patterns water and light make, the speed at which the patterns change. So [this collection] has a lot of those patterns—light refracted in a rainbow or shadows in a night sky. And resort is about that easy speed—quick changes, from pool-side to beach to cocktails to dinner. It's about a wardrobe of great pieces such as skin-revealing dresses, slouchy cropped pants, easy jackets, and the new soft jumpsuit.· Nicole Miller [Official Site]
