Versace for H&M Collaboration Will Arrive in Stores this November

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Racked was down yesterday because the FBI seized our servers. Don't worry, they weren't after our massive stash of male model pics. Anyway, here's a return to normal-ish programming.

Coming this November: the Versace for H&M collaboration. Yes, true story. This fall, an H&M store near you will be exploding with some re-issued moments of Italian luxury history—in the form of ultra-glamorous, ultra-sexy looks, just the way Versace likes it.

"I'm going to use iconic Versace pieces of iconic Versace moments," Donatella Versace says in the announcement, above. "Of course there are going to be prints, and of course there is going to be leather, and of course there are going to be studs—but they're going to be gold and they're going to be glamorous and exciting. Rock and roll."

"For me this is an opportunity to show a very big audience what Versace has been and what Versace is now," Versace says. "I usually, as a designer, look at the future, I don't look at the past. But being the sister of Gianni, you know, the DNA is Versace. I'm going to use iconic Versace pieces of iconic Versace moments, which are not exactly always the past but also the present."

Check out this second video, above, for some sketches of some of these pieces—it looks like there's going to be both men's and women's wear, several long gowns (with maaaajor leg-baring slits, of course), plenty of printed sheaths, and one particularly memorable dress, made of leather and covered in gold studs that Donatella herself wore on the runway in Milan.

The press office tells us that the collection will arrive in stores on November 19th and will include pieces for men, women, and home—reportedly, pillows and a bedspread. But, unlike other H&M collabs, this one won't end with one collection. In addition to the November release, Donatella Versace has designed a limited-edition pre-spring collection that will be available for sale January 19th exclusively through H&M's soon-to-launch e-commerce site.
