Donna Karan believes that the key to New York glamour is all in the mix. Fittingly, she titled her DKNY collection for resort 2012 "Manhattan Mix." The preview displayed no shortage of color—from lacquer red to cadmium yellow, it was all there.
Scarf prints played an important theme throughout the collection. Strong colors were grounded with outlines—and curvilinear shapes in black. Also, Karan's penchant for minimalist art was evidenced in her graphic prints and and color-blocked shift dresses.
Statement outerwear pieces included a dyed long-hair shearling, leather moto jackets, dramatic wool capes, and a great fur-trimmed parka from the DKNY Pure line. For holiday dressing, there were a ton of options in fabrications and materials such as lace on dresses, silk tops, sequins on striped sweaters, cashmere cozies, and a paillette-covered skirt. The first delivery will hit stores on September 15th. Resort shopping sure beats back-to-school shopping!
