Comedy writer Bonnie Datt once bought a chainmail vest "for clubbing"—a purchase she later came to lament, once she realized that chainmail isn't particularly slimming. Inspired by this, she now spends her spare time asking famous people to dish about purchases which they initially loved—but ended up regretting, for Buyer's Remorse.
This week we check in with actress and comedienne Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays the hilarious Shirley Bennett on NBC's Community. Yvette joins former Buyer's Remorse interviewees Patti D’Arbanville, Arianna Huffington, Chef Stephen Asprinio, Fern Mallis, Kelly MacDonald and Tucker Carlson who have all had major footwear regrets...
Racked: Yvette, what have you had buyer's remorse about?
Yvette Nicole Brown: I bought red Frye cowboy boots, (to a friend standing nearby) Don't laugh at me! Okay, yeah you can laugh at me, it's pretty funny. Three years later, they are still unworn in a box. I can't find a reason to wear them without looking like Wonder Woman. I might as well put this cuff on (the large Wonder Woman-like bracelet she was wearing) and make it happen. Yes, red Frye cowboy boots. I don't know what I was thinking. I don't know how I thought I could make that work. I am not the woman that can make that work!
