Designer (and sometimes actress) Tara Subkoff launched Imitation’s resort 2012 collection with an old Hollywood-style short silent film at New York's Jane Hotel on Tuesday night. In attendance at the launch were some of the short’s stylish stars—Becka Diamond and Lissy Trullie as well as others including Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, Karen Elson, Sky Ferreira and Charlotte Ronson.
The film itself told the story of a girl who wakes up on her 21st birthday and can’t find any of her friends and so is, as the cliche dictates, all dressed up with nowhere to go. She wanders around the city in her finery until she finally discovers that all her friends have thrown her a surprise birthday party which culminates in a marriage proposal delivered by the protagonist’s girlfriend—a fitting end for the film, given this past weekend’s events.
As for Tara’s plans for her next weekend? Fireworks in Connecticut with her boyfriend, The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper, before a long hot summer spent working on her next collection in New York, London and India. —Ana Kinsella
