July is no time to be thinking of holiday gifts (for yourself as well as others), but Californian denim favourites Lucky Brand previewed their Holiday 2011 line today, with three separate collections showcasing the brand's signature laidback vibe for the forthcoming winter season.
The first, Winter Nomad, is due to arrive in stores this Fall and includes thick colorful knitted wrap sweaters and ponchos for women and bright plaid shirts and printed tees for men, all complementing Lucky's well-loved jeans. The jeans themselves, which come in four different cuts for the holiday season—'Sweet 'n' Flare', 'Sweet 'n' Low', 'Sweet 'n' Straight' and the 'Sofia Boot'—are all available in super stretch denim in a variety of washes for the first time. Outside of denim both faux fur and Navajo prints showed up in accessories and clothing, furthering the general west-coast 70s feel of the line.
Next up is Eastern Promise, the festive collection featuring floral blouses and a lot of gold and brocade and some stunning metallic items provided by a collaboration with textile designer John Robshaw, including one detailed gold-print blouse that will retail at $89.50. Accessories in the form of chunky fur-lined boots, fringed leather crossbody bags and some very Southern Californian silver jewelry complete the holiday look
The final delivery, Fresh Frontiers, takes a different direction with a more springtime feel in vibrant stripes and prints, thinner knitted sweaters and cardigans and bright blue denim throughout. For those of you who like to coordinate your outfits with your kids', Lucky Brand has a selection of ponchos, plaid shirts and jeans for boys and girls this holiday season, which will also make stylish gifts for any kids in need of presents this Christmas. Denim fans be warned: if you're in search of some retro knits and prints to accompany your favourite blue jeans this winter, Lucky Brand should be top of your holiday shopping list. —Ana Kinsella
