TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie talked to Footwear News about the recent controversy surrounding his work with anti-gay and anti-choice organization Focus on the Family. (In case you missed it, the internet got really mad at him for teaming up with FotF.) "It was a very horrible experience," Mycoskie told FN. "And I guess, if there is any silver lining in it, [it was] to see I was immediately reached out to by many friends and co-workers and people in the industry who saw through it. This is the first time I’ve been attacked in my life for anything. I took it much more personally than I probably should have." We have a lot more to say about this than room in this quicklink, but when someone signs on to be the marquee speaker at a right-wing conservative anti-gay and anti-choice organization's event, don't you think a quick Google search debrief is in order? And the irony of feeling upset and personally attacked for working with an organization that vilifies and attacks entire populations? Well, that's a whole other talk show. [FN]
