Following a Facebook protest earlier this month that saw thousands of messages posted to the Versace Facebook page protesting the use of sandblasting techniques, the brand has announced that it will ban the use of sandblasting in the manufacture of the brand's clothing. Drapers reports: "The controversial sandblasting method, in which workers blast sand at high pressure onto fabrics, is dangerous to workers and has been known to lead to death. Retailers and brands including New Look, H&M, Levi’s and Marks & Spencer have already banned the process with Diesel, Primark, Next and George at Asda also phasing out sandblasted products." Wow who knew that those terrible 80s and 90s-era sandblasted jeans weren't just bad for your eyeballs, but bad for worker's lifespans? [Drapers]
