At the recent Chanel fall/winter 2011-2012 couture show, Peter Philips, the creative director of Chanel makeup, draped the model's eyes in a see-through black lace veil. Via a statement released by Chanel: "In the early stages of the Haute Couture Collection, Karl mentioned the masculine/feminine silhouette, the decor (Place Vendôme), the fact that we were going to do a show at night and the flashlight shoes. That's where the veil/burglar idea came from."
To achieve the night-vision effect of "eyes that see in the dark," he used the Illusion d'Ombre eyeshadow in Mirifique, Stylo Yeux Waterproof long-lasting eyeliner, and the Crayon Sourcils brow definer. And then, of course, he topped it off with those veils. Could this be the start of a new trend? We can kind of imagine Williamsburg hipsters, along with Daphne Guinness, sporting the look.
