French Connection launched its diffusion line UK Style by French Connection with a blogger preview upstairs at the Breslin in the Ace Hotel this morning. Guests were invited to dress mannequins in the style of Kate and Pippa Middleton using pieces from the Fall and Holiday collections before being treated to a decadent brunch in the restaurant downstairs.
The diffusion line, which is available exclusively at Sears and online shortly at searsstyle.com, is intended to be a reflection of French Connection's main line at a more affordable pricepoint. This translates into lots of Breton stripes, casual oversized cardigans, lace panelling, cut-outs on dresses and the bloggers' favourite, leather shorts. How all of this connects to Britain's newest and most beloved style icons, the Middleton sisters, well, we're not entirely sure. But if it looks good and the price is right, then it's something we can get behind &8212; and we hope Kate and Pippa would agree. —Ana Kinsella
