Gilt is Selling a $125 Resin Piggy Bank for $329 + $65 Shipping

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

An eagle-eyed Racked tipster sent us an email pointing out a major price discrepancy in Gilt's "Interior Illusions" sale today—a 10" resin piggy bank that's priced at $329 plus $65 shipping and handling. (Okay, right now if you're thinking, who's buying a 10" resin piggy bank? We don't know, but just go with it.) The only thing is that the exact same piggy bank—same stats, materials, identical look, same cork in its pork belly—is going for $125, full-price, at Areaware.

Which would you rather buy? A $329 + $65 shipping and handling 10" resin piggy bank or a $125 + $0 shipping and handling 10" identical resin piggy bank? It's not a trick question.
