Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Womenswear retailer Bebe has always adhered to a very specific aesthetic—namely ultra-feminine, mostly curve-hugging, super-sexy, and oftentimes shiny. So it came as kind of a surprise when we heard that the company will be launching a line of workwear—yes, clothes for working, ostensibly in an office environment, but who knows—tomorrow. Check out some selects from the lookbook, above. Things we totally get: the slim-cut jackets, the tweed skirt suit, even the pink plaid pencil skirt. Things we don't get: the keyhole turtleneck, the sheer lace top, and the strapless S&M-belted purple dress—which we think may only qualify as workwear if you work, say, in nightlife?
The Bebe workwear collection launches tomorrow at Bebe stores nationwide. Prices range from $19 to $199 and if you shop tomorrow night at a Bebe store, they're offering special disounts—10% off purchases over $100, 20% off purchases over $200, or 30% off purchases over $300. One night only, people.
