Anna Dello Russo's Editorial Collab for Macy's I.N.C. Launches

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Macy's I.N.C. launched their vague collaboration with Anna Dello Russo last night—her official title is 'Guest Editor-at-Large' for the Fall 2011 collection—at the Openhouse Gallery in Mulberry St. ADR turned away from her usual work for the likes of Vogue Nippon to edit and style looks from the mass-market retailer's capsule collection, which could seem to be a bizarre choice considering Russo's penchant for wearing complete runway looks head-to-toe as much as possible.
The collection's six looks, featuring pink-and-black color blocking, Barbie-doll hair and big sunglasses, were worn by models at the launch while a video of Russo's glossy daily life, featuring airports, photo shoots and designer fittings, was projected alongside them. The video is to be part of the Macy's I.N.C. digital space when the collection launches online this Fall. Guests enjoying the bellinis and teeny-tiny canapes at the event included Solange Knowles (with son Daniel Julez in tow), Harley Viera-Newton, Becka Diamond, Byrdie Bell as well as Sky Ferreira on DJ duties for the night. Unfortunately Anna Dello Russo herself was unable to attend the event, but her charismatic, broken-English fashion spirit was on display in the collection's ads, in which she and Karolina Kurkova model the looks. In the immortal words of ADR herself "Fashion is about all kinds of change. Don't get stuck!"Ana Kinsella
