The rumor spinning around the mill this week is that Lady Gaga and her younger sister Natali Germanotta might be designing a clothing line. But no elaborate headdresses, meat costumes, or giant eggs to crawl out of here: Grazia reports that the line will be "relatively normal and wearable." Huh? Normal and wearable in the way that nipple tape and face veils are? Apparently not, because they add that Gaga's been saying she'd like to "remodel the styles of classic icons from the past, for example, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Katherine Hepburn." But, of course, with a twist.
This got us thinking: What would Gaga look like in normal clothes? Sure, shots of her surfing and looking very LA hit the Internet recently, and then there was that time she forgot to put makeup on, but what might she look like in a regular ol' outfit (or three regular ol' outfits, above) from J.Crew, or the Mad Men Collection from Banana Republic?
An idea of what Lady Gaga, with her religious-inspired hairpiece and all, would look like if she fell into The Gap.
Here's two contemporary staples for you: A colorblocked pants and jacket combo from Zara, and an easy striped dress from Urban Outfitters. Except they look a little different, because Gaga would probably wear them with the teal-colored bob she sported at the CFDA Awards, or the white lace headdress she wore to the 2009 VMAs.
If Gaga were to wear the Mad Men collection from Banana Republic, the novelty of a retro bow-tie blouse and cigarette pants would probably be lost to her two-tone hair.
Sure, she wears dresses, but she wears the kind that are made out of PVC. Instead, here's what she might look like in a printed DVF dress or a sweet Ann Taylor frock.
Well, this H&M blouse isn't totally normal because it looks like it's plastic, but that extra-large grandma cardigan is as by-the-book as they come for casual dressing. Pair that with Gaga's eyeshadow, and you've got quite the thing goin' on.
