The Conde Nast Elevator Twitter Feed is Amazing, Will Probably Wind Up Getting Someone Fired

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If walls could talk, the elevators at Conde Nast would have a TV deal—or a Twitter. Check out the just-launched @CondeElevator Twitter feed, which kicked off on Saturday with this overheard gem:

Woman #1 to Woman #2, holding an omelet: "What's the occasion?" Woman #2: "...huh?" Woman #1: "I would need an occasion to eat that."

Since then, it's been flooded with tips (Got one? Send it here) and sightings—of #AnnaWintour, naturally, and frenemizing. We love this one:

Teen Vogue-er to Teen Vogue-er: "I don't understand why she was so pissed. I'd want to know if something made me look fat."
