Lorena Tavera, a former Miss El Paso USA who likes mid price-point clothes but doesn't want to pay for them, was arrested after investigators say she attempted to steal a $69 blouse from a Dillards at Sunland Park Mall in Texas on Friday.
Tavera landed her title back in 2008 and came in sixth place in the Miss Texas USA competition, so perhaps that taste of the crown got the best of her and she decided to up her beauty-queen ante by acquiring some new clothes. On Monday, she gave KTSM News in Texas this all-over-the-place comment: "I'm going to contact my lawyer. This story can't be run. The story is wrong first of all. It's been misconstrued and it's twisted, so I need to contact my lawyer... I can't talk to you until I talk to my lawyer." She made bail on Saturday, which is when she hopefully took care of the two outstanding Municipal Court traffic warrants she had.
