Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
There has been a lot of activity this week in the e-commerce world, and it's only Tuesday! Saks Fifth Avenue entered the flash sale arena with Saks Fashion Fix and Gilt Groupe went in the other direction with their full-priced men's site Park & Bond that went live yesterday. Rue La La also has a few tricks up their stylish sleeves with Rue Miami and Rue Chicago.
Last night we were invited by Rue La La to a 5-course dinner and Joseph Drouhin wine pairing held on the second level of Drew Nieporent's and Robert De Niro's restaurant Tribeca Grill. While we were learning about the Burgundy region from Laurent Drouhin—Joseph Drouhin's great grandson—we also discovered that there's still plenty of ground to be covered within the e-tailing space.
Rue La La, which is headquartered out of Boston, added Rue San Francisco, Rue Washington DC, Rue Los Angeles, and Rue New York City to their roster earlier this summer. Other Rue Local sites include Rue Boston, Rue Philadelphia, and Rue Seattle which launched last year.
Today they bring Miami and Chicago into the Rue La La family of fashion and lifestyle offerings. Whether you're looking for a deal on some Kate Spade New York merchandise, a hot stone massage, or a tapas dinner at a Miami boîte, Rue Local has got you covered. But remember, they only last for 24 hours. Andale!
